Police are investigating after a suspected pipe bomb was found outside a south Vancouver home Tuesday.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says bomb technicians responded to a call from East 49th Avenue near Fleming Street around 9:30 a.m.

“It appears the device was a pipe bomb, but with no powder. Meaning, it could be made into a bomb, but in this case, it wasn’t,” Const. Tania Visintin explained.

“As for who put it there and why, we are investigating.”

Police did not disclose any further details.
