A section of Sprott Street in Burnaby was closed in both directions Friday after a fatal crash.

The Burnaby RCMP is turning to the public in its investigation of a fatal crash involving a cyclist and a semi-truck Friday.

Mounties were called to the area of Sprott Street near Kensington Avenue around 8 a.m. The cyclist died at the scene.

“Our Criminal Collision Investigation Team is working to determine the cause of the crash,” said Cpl. Laura Hirst.

“Our investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision and have not yet spoken to police on scene, or if you have dashcam video in the area, we ask you to contact our investigators.”

Impairment was not a factor, and the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

A section of Sprott Street was closed in both directions for several hours following the crash.

Anyone with more information or dashcam footage in the area between 7:40 and 8:10 a.m. Friday is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-848-9999 and refer to file 2025-42284.
