Police seek witnesses to alleged sexual assault; one in custody

Surrey police are seeking witnesses to an alleged sexual assault.

Police say it happened on Aug. 5 around 12:15 p.m. outside a Tim Horton’s and Salvation Army located on 120 Street.

Abdulkarim Ahmad Alhamid, a 58-year-old male, has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault. He remains in police custody.

The investigation has been taken over by the service’s Special Investigation Unit. Investigators are appealing to the public for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the alleged assault, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.
