The Port Moody Police Department says it is investigating the death of a man in one of the city’s rec centres Sunday.

The death is not considered suspicious.

According to Const. Sam Zacharias, they were called to the Port Moody Recreation Complex just before 6 a.m. to assist emergency responders dealing with a man in medical distress.

“That man unfortunately was declared deceased on scene by first responders, which triggered a subsequently triggered a sudden death investigation,” Zacharias said.

“They are looking to identify the man, believed to be in his late 30s.”

Police are now working with the BC Coroners’ Service to determine the cause of death.

Any witnesses or anyone with additional information is asked to call the Port Moody Police Department.
