A man suspected of snatching a woman’s purse in South Vancouver was arrested Tuesday morning.

The Vancouver Police Department says officers were called to the area of Fraser Street and East 45th Avenue around 9 a.m.

Police say a witness reported a man robbing his victim, a 68-year-old woman.

Officers later arrested a 51-year-old suspect, who has since been charged with one count of robbery.

Records show a man by the suspect’s name is due back in court on Jan. 15 for a robbery charge, and Jan. 5 for one count of theft, $5,000 or under, related to an offence in March.

The VPD says the suspect has been released from custody.
