Richmond police say a man is facing charges after he allegedly entered a frozen yogurt shop and scooped the dessert from behind the counter into his bare hands.

The Richmond RCMP says officers were called to the shop near the Fisherman’s Wharf in Steveston around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The incident was caught on video and shared widely online.

The video shows the suspect walking behind the glass-covered counter and helping himself to some cookies and cream yogurt in a cone — without a metal scoop.

In an update Friday, Mounties say the suspect has since been charged with one count of mischief.

The Richmond RCMP say he was released on conditions, including that he not return to the business.
