Police in Richmond are warning residents about an increase in cases of scams involving resident’s jewellery.

The RCMP says there have been several instances recently where fraudsters are either selling fake jewellery, or taking people’s real items.

The latter is done through handling a victim’s jewellery and then swapping it for a fake without them knowing.

Police say they received three separate reports involving this type of fraud in just one day.

Mounties are advising people to be sceptical of people trying to sell them jewellery on the street.
