Police say a youth suspected of making online threats against a Richmond school was arrested Monday.

The Richmond RCMP says it was contacted by the Richmond School District on Saturday, Oct. 10, about alleged online threats of a shooting.

“The threats were posted online and indicated a shooting would take place at a specified school on October 21, 2024,” Mounties said in a release Tuesday.

The RCMP has not specified which school was targeted by the threat.

Investigators identified and arrested a youth on Monday.

“Based on all of the information gathered to date, there is nothing to indicate this threat was being followed through on. As such, there is no further threat or concern for safety.”
