Section of Vancouver seawall to close

Waves crash against the seawall in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Tuesday January 9, 2024.

A section of Vancouver’s iconic seawall will close this week for ongoing annual slope work.

From Monday to Friday, the seawall will be closed between Prospect Point and Third Beach, according to the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.

Detours are in place, but the board says people should be aware of the essential tree removal also happening on these routes.

It’s asking people to respect all signs and directions from staff during the closures.

Due to the recent cold weather, the parks board is also warning people to be careful on sections of the seawall that remain open.

It says the path could be icy, and pedestrians and cyclists should give any staff working on the path plenty of space.
