Several businesses involved in massive fire near Surrey’s Guildford Mall area

Twenty-two fire trucks and 52 firefighters have been sent to the scene of a large fire in a commercial building in Surrey Friday, the fire department tells 1130 NewsRadio.
Surrey Fire Services Assistant Deputy Chief Rich Bodnark says crews were called out to the building, located on 104th Avenue near 153rd Street in the Guildford Mall area, around 8:30 a.m.
Bodnark says several businesses in the structure are being impacted.
“There is a learning center in this building that’s been lost,” Bodnark said.
“We’ve lost a cellular unit repair store. There’s also a health clinic that is in this particular commercial building.”
“Fire suppressions, both aerial and internal, are offsetting each other and currently, are currently continuing,” Bodnark said around 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Bodnark says one person was treated for significant burns at the scene and has since been taken to hospital by ambulance.
He says crews are mounting a defensive attack to fight the blaze, adding that parts of the roof have collapsed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Bodnark says the intersection will remain closed for hours so crews can investigate.
This is a developing story.
