six arrested after mail theft, fraud investigation

Police say six men have been arrested after a two-month investigation into mail theft in Burnaby.
After two break-ins at an apartment building on Telford Avenue in October 2024, Burnaby RCMP identified a group of suspects and initiated an investigation into the group.
Mounties searched a home on Belleville Avenue which led to four arrests.
In a release Wednesday, police say six men now face several potential fraud and theft-related charges.
The Burnaby RCMP says nearly 1,600 items were seized as part of the investigation, including:
- Items used in the manufacturing of false identification;
- 346 pieces of identification;
- 572 pieces of mail;
- 496 bank cards;
- 155 cheques;
- An embossing machine;
Insp. Matt Toews says the suspected thieves were “organized and had equipment to mass-produce false identification.”
