If you’re hoping to hit the slopes at Whistler on opening day at the end of the month, Ullr is delivering.

A special weather statement has been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada for the Sea to Sky, as the “first significant snowfall of the season” is set to blanket the region on Saturday.

Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton are covered by the statement.

“A frontal system will arrive on Saturday, bringing rain to the coast and snow to areas further inland. Snow is expected to begin early Saturday morning and become mixed with rain later in the day. Precipitation will end Saturday night,” ECCC shared on Friday.

ECCC says an accumulation of five to 10 centimetres of snow is possible.

The weather service is also reminding drivers to prepare for winter conditions. “Visibility may be reduced at times in snow,” it explained.

“Temperatures will hover near zero and some melting will occur on the ground, making snowfall accumulations uncertain,” ECCC added.
