A snowfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Greater Victoria

While the snow has stopped in most places across Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island continues to be unexpectedly walloped.

Snowflakes are rapidly coating Victoria, where it’s been snowing since about 10:30 a.m. this morning.

A snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada remains in effect for the Greater Victoria area.

A total of 10 centimetres is predicted to accumulate, before it stops late Thursday evening.

The snow will transition to rain overnight in Greater Victoria, where Environment Canada warns of a risk of freezing rain.

Residents are being cautioned against travel due to reduced visibility and surfaces concealed by snow.

Similar to Vancouver, rain is predicted for the coming week in the capital city, with daily highs between 5 C and 9 C.
