Two teens have been charged in connection with a shooting at a South Surrey home earlier this month.

The Surrey RCMP says officers received reports of shots being fired in the area of 154 Street and 28 Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 1.

At the time, there was speculation that the incident was “connected to foreign interference,” though the RCMP says it has not established any such links in this case.

No injuries were reported, and police said at the time the shooting appeared to be “an isolated incident.”

A home on 140 Street was searched on Feb. 6 as part of the shots fired investigation. Mounties say three firearms and multiple electronic devices were seized.

Two days later, the RCMP announced that two teens had been arrested and released in relation to the investigation.

“Two 16-year-old males from Surrey were arrested for careless use of a firearm and discharge a firearm with intent. The youths were released without charges at this time,” the Surrey RCMP said.

Last week, on Monday, Feb. 12, the Surrey RCMP says two 16-year-olds were arrested. They have since been charged with discharging a firearm into a place and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.

The two boys remain in custody until their next court appearance.
