Police were called to the intersection of 96th Avenue and 161A Street in Surrey just after 4 p.m., where they found two cars that had crashed, one of which was upside down and on fire.

Three people were taken to hospital in stable condition after a rollover crash in Surrey Friday afternoon, BC Emergency Health Services tells 1130 NewsRadio.

Police were called to the intersection of 96th Avenue and 161A Street just after 4 p.m., where they found two cars that had crashed, one of which was upside down and on fire.

“All occupants of both vehicles had safely gotten out,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said in a news release.

“(Surrey Fire Service) firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.”

Houghton says the speed of at least one of the cars may have been a contributing factor.

Police say the cause of the collision is under investigation. The intersection of 96 Avenue and 161A Street was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Anyone with any information or dash cam or CCTV footage is asked to call the Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502 and quote file 25-25642 (SU).
