Stanley Park Ghost Train cancelled Friday

With an atmospheric river in the forecast for B.C.’s South Coast, the City of Vancouver is cancelling the Ghost Train in Stanley Park on Friday.

“All Ghost Train rides are cancelled to prioritize the safety of guests and staff. Ticketholders will be automatically refunded by Showpass to their method of purchase,” the city stated on its website.

“Because the event is sold out, ticket exchanges for another date are not available.”

It’s unclear if any availabilities will go ahead this weekend as the heavy rain is expected to stick around until at least Sunday afternoon.

1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss says rumbles of thunder and lightning are not out of the question in this storm.

“It’s more the sustained stretch of rain that we’re going to have, not necessarily the brief intensity. It starts Friday morning with lighter showers, ramps up to steady rain into the afternoon and evening. It won’t be great for the afternoon drive. Winds pick up too,” he shared.

“That rain will be heaviest through Saturday, especially tomorrow morning. You could see some periods where it won’t be as heavy into the afternoon and then at least lingering rain through the overnight and first thing on Sunday. Sunday afternoon, we may even see some sunny breaks as we start to get to the back edge of the system.”

Kuss adds Monday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 12 degrees.

The Ghost Train is operating until Halloween.
