Stewardson Way reopens after earlier fatal crash in New Westminster

Stewardson Way has reopened in both directions after being closed for several hours following a fatal crash.

The New Westminster Police Department says the crash happened on Stewardson Way near 5th Avenue Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called out to the collision around 7:30 a.m., the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) says.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics, two ambulances with advanced care paramedics, and one paramedic supervisor responded,” the PHSA said.

“One patient was transported to hospital in stable condition.”

It isn’t clear how many vehicles were involved.

The New West PD says the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service and BC Coroner have been informed.

Anyone with dash cam footage or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call police.
