Stolen search and rescue equipment returned to police

The RCMP in Chilliwack shared good news Tuesday afternoon. The stolen gear from the Coquitlam Search and Rescue (CSAR) crew was returned to the police.
When a 7-year-old girl went missing last week in Chilliwack, the search and rescue team arrived at the scene with their equipment to support the search effort.
Police say the team had stashed their heavy gear bags in the forest at the trail entrance of Winona Road on Friday.
When the girl was found on Friday evening, they returned to get their bags only to realize everything was missing.
That evening, they turned to the public for help in a Facebook post. A GoFundMe had been set up to help the rescuers replace the gear, which cost around $10,000.
