Surrey man charged with impaired driving after Delta crash
A 29-year-old Surrey man is facing multiple charges in relation to a 2023 crash in Delta that left one person a quadriplegic and another with serious injuries.
The Delta Police Department says the incident happened on Oct. 25, 2023, when a driver in an Acura RSX went off the road, crashing into trees in the city’s Watershed Park.
“Two rear-seat passengers were trapped in the car and required extrication by the Delta Fire Department. The driver and front passenger allegedly fled from the scene prior to emergency responders attending,” the DPD said in a statement on Wednesday.
The BC Prosecution Service approved charges in December of last year, and a 29-year-old was charged with multiple offences, including failing to remain at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm, impaired driving, and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08.
The accused has been released from custody, the DPD says, awaiting his next court appearance.
