Surrey police arrest 2 after off-duty officer spots stolen vehicle
Two people were arrested in Surrey over the weekend after an off-duty police officer spotted a suspected stolen car.
The officer was reportedly in the Hawthorne Park area around 6 a.m. Saturday when they noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen during their shift just hours before.
The Surrey Police Service says the vehicle was parked in a residence on 140 Street, and officers and police dogs worked together to arrest two suspects who allegedly entered the vehicle and tried to drive away.
When searching the vehicle, police found over 300 grams of suspected illicit drugs that the SPS believes could be cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
“Both suspects were later released from custody on Undertakings to Appear pending further investigation and are facing Criminal Code charges.”
