The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is turning to the public for help identifying an assault suspect.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Oct. 28, a woman entered the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital, police say.

“The suspect then allegedly removed her shirt and made skin-to-skin contact with three infants,” the SPS said.

“None of the infants were injured as a result of the interaction.”

Security officers then removed the woman from the building.

Police say they weren’t notified of the incident until several hours later, around 1 p.m. They have yet to identify the suspect, who is described as being between 30 and 40 years old and 5’2″ with a heavy build.

The SPS has shared a photo of the suspect as she was last seen. She was wearing a black hoodie with the words “Essentials Department” in white lettering on the chest, dirty grey sweatpants, cream-coloured sandals, and black socks. She was carrying a camouflage jacket.

Anyone with any information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and refer to file 25-94777.
