Surrey police investigate possible shots fired at series of businesses

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is investigating reports of shots fired at a strip mall at 128th Street and 80th Avenue.
Police say the reported gunfire may have happened overnight Friday but they were only informed about it at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
“Police were on scene investigating and forensic identification officers were there examining the scene for evidence this afternoon,” the SPS said in a statement to 1130 NewsRadio.
“It is very early in the investigation, but investigators will be looking into whether this is an isolated incident or connected to any other incidents.”
Many Surrey businesses say they have been the targets of extortion attempts in recent months, but police were unable to say if this event was related.
