Surrey police investigating shots fired overnight; incident believed to be extortion-related

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it is investigating after shots were fired at a business early Sunday morning.

Police say they believe the incident is related to extortion.

Officers were called out to the business, located on 120th Street near 80th Avenue, shortly after 2:30 a.m.

“SPS officers arrived and confirmed that the exterior of the business had been damaged by gunshots,” police said.

“There were staff inside at the time, but thankfully nobody was injured.”

The SPS says it is working to determine if there are any links to other incidents.
