Surrey RCMP seeking multiple suspects after woman stabbed
Police are searching for multiple suspects after a woman was stabbed in Surrey shortly after midnight Sunday.
The Surrey RCMP says it responded to reports of an assault on the sidewalk near the Central City shopping mall on University Drive on Oct. 6.
Police say the victim was quickly transported to hospital with “serious injuries consistent with a stabbing” by a good Samaritan who was in the area.
Investigators in the Serious Crime Unit have determined that multiple suspects may have been involved.
Corp. Sarbjit K. Sangha says the RCMP is investigating possible motives for the attack.
“We’ve been doing CCTV canvassing in the area to identify the suspect that committed this assault. We believe there were multiple suspects involved in this assault,” said Sangha.
“We do believe there were other people in the area when this assault took place, and we’re asking those people to come forward and talk to the police if they haven’t done so already. And if anybody has any CCTV footage, including dashcam footage, we’re asking that you call the RCMP at 604-599-0502.”
Sangha says the victim is recovering from her injuries.
