Teen struck in Surrey hit-and-run, driver arrested: police
The Surrey Police Service says a 14-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run near Holland Park on Sunday night.
The SPS says just after 10 p.m., officers were called to reports of the collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the 104 Avenue and Mall Access intersection.
“Officers arrived to find that a 14-year-old boy had been struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene. The boy was transported to hospital by BCEHS with non-life-threatening injuries,” Staff Sgt. Lindsey Housing said Monday morning.
“The vehicle was later found driving near 104 Avenue and Whalley Boulevard at approximately 2:15 am. The driver was arrested for both impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision,” he added.
Houghton explains that the investigation remains ongoing and charges have yet to be laid.
The crash happened after the end of the BC Halal Food Festival, held at Holland Park.
The SPS is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information, including dashcam footage of the area, to contact police at 604-599-0502.
