Thousands head to Surrey for 10th annual FVDED in the Park
Tens of thousands of music fans will be heading down to Holland Park in Surrey Saturday for the 10th annual FVDED in the Park festival.
FVDED is an annual dance-music event that blends Canadian talent with major artists like Disclosure, Zedd, and Kaytranada.
Co-founder Alvaro Prol says the two-day event also showcases rising Canadian talent.
“We always save a percentage of spots for local and regional people who deserve it and need to be on these flyers, and we really take pride in trying to help the community,” Prol said.
Last year, FVDED injected an estimated $8.2 million into the local economy.
“On our heat map, we see people are coming from Seattle, Toronto, New York; people are coming from all over the place.”
But it hasn’t always been easy. What began in 2015 with 10,000 attendees has nearly tripled in size.
“Talent is always a challenge,” Prol said.
“Fighting against the U.S. exchange this year was a tough one.”
The festival boasts four stages in total.
Saturday is day two of the event, which wraps up at 11 p.m.
