The Surrey RCMP says three men are facing charges after a fatal hit and run on Saturday.

Mounties say a man was struck early Saturday morning near the intersection of University Drive and 104th Avenue, but he was found several blocks away, where he was pronounced dead.

Soon after locating the suspect vehicle, a red Ford Mustang, police say the three men inside were all arrested.

The three suspects, believed to be in their thirties, have been released from custody pending charges, police say.

“At this time, I can’t speak to what exact charges they are facing, they have been released on undertakings, awaiting their next court appearance, and then once the charges are laid or sworn by the BC Prosecution Service, then we’ll be able to say for sure,” said Const. Parmbir Kahlon with the Surrey RCMP.

Police say alcohol and speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors in the fatal crash.

It was one of two hit and run incidents in Metro Vancouver over the weekend.

In Coquitlam, Mounties say a woman was struck Saturday evening at Pinetree Way and Guildford Way while walking through a marked crosswalk. Moments later, while unconscious on the ground, she was struck again by a different car.

Police say neither driver remained at the scene and they’re urging both to come forward, releasing images of the suspect vehicles, which include a white four door SUV and a red four door SUV. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“When you are involved in these types of incidents, when a pedestrian is struck, or whether it’s motor vehicle collision, you have a duty, as a driver, to remain at the scene of the accident and provide your information,” said Kahlon.

“If somebody is seriously hurt, it’s your duty to try to provide help and if you can’t do that, call 911 so help can be rendered to that person.”
