TransLink offers free transit for New Year’s Eve
If you have plans downtown this New Year’s Eve, TransLink is making it easy, affordable and safe for you to get to and from your destination.
From 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 1, TransLink is offering free transit to all customers.
During these hours, fare gates at the SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open. There is no need for customers to tap their Compass Cards or use other payment methods. If your trip begins prior to 5 p.m., TransLink is advising transit users to still tap off to ensure being charged the correct fare.
For the first year, TransLink has teamed up with a sponsor to cover some of the costs of extra transit service and free fares on New Year’s Eve. Sponsored by Captain Morgan, the company’s logo will be visible across the transit system leading up to New Year’s Eve.
On Dec. 31, buses, the SkyTrain and the SeaBus will be running on an extended weekday schedule. The West Coast Express will be operating on a weekday schedule. The NightBus will continue operating after the SkyTrain and the SeaBus service ends.
A full list of service changes can be found on the TransLink website.
