Vancouver Goldeneyes take centre ice
2025 was the year the Vancouver Goldeneyes went from a dream to reality.
It started last spring when the Professional Women’s Hockey League awarded Vancouver its first-ever expansion franchise.
The city that helped spark the league’s growth — drawing nearly 20-thousand fans during the PWHL’s Takeover Tour in January — would finally get a team to call its own.
In November, the new team’s identity was revealed: The Vancouver Goldeneyes.
The Goldeneyes are the first team in PWHL history to have their logo in centre ice, meaning the Pacific Coliseum is their home and they’re not sharing it with anyone else.
From the thousands of fans who showed up to prove Vancouver deserved a team, to the sellout crowd that roared for opening night, the Goldeneyes have already shown they’re more than Vancouver’s newest professional franchise.
They’re a team this city and its fans have been waiting for.
