Vancouver mayor, police to make second announcement

Mayor Ken Sim and the Vancouver Police Department’s Chief Constable Adam Palmer are set to face the media together for the second time in as many weeks on Tuesday morning.

The pair says they will deliver an “important announcement” at police headquarters on Cambie Street.

While no details regarding the announcement have been released, it comes after the mayor and police announced “Taskforce Barrage” last week, targeting organized crime in the city.

Sim also revealed a plan to revitalize the Downtown Eastside at the end of last month. Speaking at a forum held by the Save Our Streets B.C. Coalition, Sim announced his plan to transform the neighbourhood by breaking up supportive housing, shelter services, and social services to encourage a mix of housing and businesses.
