A high-profile member of the Vancouver Police Board has handed in her resignation.

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim confirmed in a statement to The Leader Spirit that Faye Wightman handed in her resignation during “a duly constituted in-camera meeting” this week.

“As Chair, I want to express my gratitude for her service during her tenure. While her departure is acknowledged with respect, we remain committed to upholding the Board’s mission and objectives. On behalf of the Board, we wish Faye the best in her future endeavors,” he said.

Little is known about why Wightman decided to leave the VPB.

Prior to being on the Vancouver Police Board, Wightman was president and CEO of the Vancouver Foundation. She retired from that position in 2013.
