Vancouver Police Department: 68-year-old pedestrian hit Sunday
Vancouver police are seeking witnesses after a driver struck and injured a 68-year-old woman over the weekend.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the intersection of Cambie Street and West 57th Avenue.
Police say the woman was crossing the road when the driver of a black GMC Sierra hit her.
“The woman was taken to hospital where she remains with serious, life-altering injuries,” the VPD said.
Police add the driver remained on the scene, and neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the investigation.
Const. Tania Visintin says the collision happened “during a busy time of day where there would be a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic,” and the department is asking any witnesses to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.”
