Police in Vancouver are releasing images of a suspect who they say may have assaulted a teenage girl earlier this year in hopes of identifying him.

The Vancouver Police Department explains the 16-year-old victim and her friend initially boarded the 250 route bus at Park Royal in West Vancouver around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 25.

According to police, the two saw the man on the bus, and thought that he was “staring at them, and commented aloud to each other about the man’s behaviour.”

“When the victims got off the bus at Pacific Centre, near Granville and Georgia Street, the man allegedly followed them and assaulted one of the girls. A witness intervened to stop the assault, however the suspect walked away before police could respond,” Const. Tania Visintin shared in an update on Friday.

The VPD describes the suspect as being in his 40s or 50s and about 6 feet tall. At the time of the incident, he wore glasses, had “receding hair,” and was wearing an orange collared BC Lions shirt, cream-coloured pants, and blue and white Adidas sneakers.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact police at 604-717-4021.
