Vancouver police warn of dangerous offender released into city
Police in Vancouver warning the public that a dangerous offender has moved into a halfway house in the city.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says 36-year-old Tyler Gordon Strathdee is serving an 11-year sentence for multiple violent crimes in Alberta, including sexual assault and manslaughter.
He’s out on statutory release in Vancouver and police say they believe he poses a high risk to commit more physical and sexual violence.
“Investigators from VPD’s High Risk Offender Unit will work with Correctional Service Canada to monitor Strathdee, and ask anyone who observes him breaching his release conditions to contact police immediately,” police said Tuesday.
Strathdee is prohibited from using drugs and alcohol and contacting sex trade workers.
He’s also required to report any relationships with women.
