Vancouver’s Stanley Park Seawall partly closed until safe

A section of the Stanley Park Seawall remains closed Monday over worries of possible debris slides.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation says the closure stretches from the Seawall West Gate, north of Third Beach, to the Seawall East Gate, east of Prospect Point and Lions Gate Bridge.

“Assessments indicate that freeze-thaw cycles associated with anticipated shifts in temp could impact slope stability in the area,” the board explained.

The same section of the path has been closed since Feb. 7, originally over concerns of “ice buildup and falling icicles from overhanging slopes.”

The board says it will remain closed until it’s confident the slope is stable.
