Vehicle recovered from Squamish River

The BC RCMP says it has successfully recovered a vehicle on Saturday that plunged into the Squamish River this summer.

On June 14, Mounties received reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Once officers and other first responders arrived at the scene, they located three individuals who had managed to escape the vehicle before it sank in to the river.

One person remains missing despite the vehicle being found.

Police say that Squamish Search and Rescue and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team helped in the recovery.

Police say the Sea to Sky GIS will continue its investigation.

During the time of the incident, the Squamish River was deep and fast-flowing due to spring runoff, creating hazardous conditions.

These conditions caused the search and rescue efforts for the fourth occupant to be put on pause several times in the days after the crash.
