The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is sharing more information about a fatal daytime shooting in Surrey Wednesday, including the name of the victim.

Police say 56-year-old Satwinder Sharma of Abbotsford was at his place of work when he died after being shot near 84th Avenue and 160th Street in Fleetwood around 3:45 p.m.

“Early indications suggest this is a targeted incident, and we are still working hard to piece it all together, which includes talking to witnesses at the scene, getting background from his family, as well as canvassing for video in the area,” said Sgt. Freda Fong with IHIT.

“This is a shocking incident. It’s a high-traffic area, especially foot traffic, so it is certainly brazen. And the fact that it occurred during the day, we are fortunate that nobody was hurt.”

Police say Sharma has no criminal history.

There is no word on any arrests. On Wednesday, police said they don’t believe this incident is linked to any active files

The death was the city’s third homicide of 2025.

Anyone with any information or dashcam footage from the area between 3 and 4 p.m. is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
