Will Metro Vancouver schools be closed due to snow on Monday?

The Lower Mainland has been hit by a blast of winter, but so far there is no word from school districts as to whether or not there will be school closures.

The Vancouver School District says it is aware of snowfall warnings and weather statements, but says all schools in the district will remain open if possible during severe weather events.

As of Sunday afternoon, there is no word from the Burnaby, Surrey, or Abbotsford school districts either.

Post-secondary students at UBC, SFU, and BCIT — don’t think you’re off the hook either. There have so far been no announcements from those schools, except SFU saying its Bennett Library on the Burnaby campus is closed due to the weather.
