The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) says a woman is dead after a collision involving a Surrey police vehicle Thursday morning.

“Information provided by the Surrey Police Service (SPS) states that at about 6 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2025, officers with the SPS leaving a gas station in the 10800 block of 132 Street were involved in a collision with a woman,” the IIO said.

“Emergency Health Services attended and took the woman to a hospital, but she was subsequently pronounced deceased.”

BC Emergency Health Services says the incident involved a pedestrian.

“Two ambulances responded to the scene,” it said.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient to hospital in critical condition.”

The IIO is called in after any police-related incidents that result in death or serious injury, whether or not there are any allegations of wrongdoing.
