2 charged after 2023 convenience store robberies

Police in Burnaby say two men are facing charges after a two-year investigation into two robberies in the same location.
On Jan. 29, 2023, the Burnaby RCMP says it responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Hastings Street near Holdom Avenue.
“It was reported that two male suspects entered the store, tied the victim up, and stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene,” said Mounties Wednesday.
Weeks later, on Feb. 22, 2023, police responded to another robbery at the same store with “very similar details.”
The RCMP says its Strike Force Unit took over the investigation, and after more than two years, the BC Prosecution Service has approved charges against two men.
A 34-year-old and a 32-year-old are each facing two counts of robbery and two counts of unlawful confinement.
Court records show the 32-year-old is expected in court on Thursday.
