body found at UBC’s Wreck Beach

Police say a body was found at a beach near the University of British Columbia Wednesday morning.

The University RCMP says it received a report about an unresponsive person on Wreck Beach around 7 a.m.

“Despite lifesaving efforts, the person was declared deceased,” Mounties said Thursday.

Police say the body has been identified and family has been notified.

An investigation into the person’s death is in its early stages and the RCMP says it is working with the BC Coroner’s Servce to determine the circumstances.
