Charges laid in 2024 homicide in Surrey’s Guildford area

A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal 2024 stabbing in Surrey, B.C.’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says.
Police were called to a home on 108A Avenue near 147th Street in the city’s Guildford neighbourhood around 3 a.m. on Dec. 14, where they found two people suffering from life-threatening injuries.
One of the two victims, a woman, died at the scene. The other was taken to hospital.
IHIT says Gurtaj Singh was arrested on April 15 and was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
“While charges have been laid against Mr. Singh, this investigation is not over,” said IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong.
“We believe there are additional parties who were involved in this act of violence, and we will continue in our pursuit to bring all those responsible to justice for the victims and their families.”

Investigators believe the incident was isolated and there is no risk to the public.
