Crews rescue injured mountain biker on Sunshine Coast Friday

North Shore Rescue (NSR) and Sunshine Coast SAR were busy Friday evening rescuing a mountain biker believed to be in distress above Reed Road on the Sunshine Coast.
NSR says it was called by Sunshine Coast asking for aid, and it responded with a Talon helicopter, its night hoist team, and a physician.
“The subject was located, hoisted out, and handed over to the [BC Emergency Health Services],” it said.
“Great work by Sunshine Coast SAR.”
Both teams posted a video of the extraction on Facebook.
“14 volunteer members quickly assessed the difficult access and the subject’s injuries, leading to a call for helicopter extraction from North Shore Rescue,” Sunshine Coast said.
“The video highlights the remarkable precision these teams now demonstrate.”
NSR responds to call on Grouse Grind
Also on Friday evening, NSR was called out after multiple reports of hikers hearing calls for help on the Grouse Grind.
“They were coming from between the half and three-quarter mark, and both informants explained they heard the calls quite clearly for help,” said Dave Barrett, search manager.
“We had a couple of members start from the top of the grind and work their way down, and we also had our grind patrollers start from the bottom and work their way up after two or three hours. Neither team found any indication that there was someone legitimately calling for help, so we were stood down.”
