The Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Team says a 41-year-old Langley man has been arrested and charged in relation to a fatal shooting in September last year.

The killing happened on Sept. 21, 2024, when the Langley RCMP was called after reports of shots fired in the area of 196 Street and 84 Avenue.

When police arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

One could not be saved, and the other was rushed to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

In an update on the case Wednesday, IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong shared that Barinder Singh Dhaliwal was arrested on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved firearms-related charges against the Langley man.

“Today’s outcome is the result of teamwork between IHIT, Langley RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) and CFSEU-BC, and their commitment to public safety,” Fong said.

At the time of the shooting, police did not want to identify the shooting victim. He was later identified as 38-year-old Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, from Edmonton, Alta.

Hebrada-Walters was known to police, and the shooting is believed to be linked to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict.
