More than $170K worth of drugs, tobacco seized at Mission Institution, says CSC Mission Institution staff seize drugs, tobacco worth $170K

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) says staff seized a package last week containing large amounts of contraband at the Mission Institution.
The package contained methamphetamine, THC shatter, tobacco, and a charging cable, totaling more than $170,000.
This comes just over a week after staff at the Fraser Valley Institution — a federal prison located in Abbotsford — seized a package containing cannabis concentrate, crystal meth, fentanyl, MDMA, and other opiates valued at $16,000.
Staff at Abbotsford’s Matsqui Institution have also recently located a significant amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia, homemade weapons, and tattoo paraphernalia. These were discovered at the medium-security prison during a several-day lockdown that was lifted on April 24.
The CSC says it uses ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search for drugs in buildings and personal property and on inmates and visitors.
