Surrey Police searching for witnesses to string of sexual assaults

Police in Surrey are asking witnesses to come forward after a series of sexual assaults in that city last week.
According to the Surrey Police Service, at around 10:30 p.m. on June 5, a woman got off a bus and walked west along 72 Avenue from 132 Street when she was approached from behind and allegedly sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
Police say the victim managed to get away from the stranger and call police.
“While police were arriving, the same man approached another woman who was standing at the nearby bus stop and allegedly assaulted her. Police arrived a short time later and took the man into custody,” Sgt. Tige Pollock said in a statement on Wednesday.
The SPS says that during the investigation into the two incidents, investigators were then alerted to another alleged assault that happened earlier in the day.
Police say that around 2:30 p.m. that same day, they were called to reports of an assault along 72 Avenue near 130 Street.
“A woman reported that she was approached and assaulted by a man unknown to her. Police are investigating potential links between this incident and the incident that occurred later that night, a short distance away,” Pollock added.
Police say a 33-year-old man has been charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of assault.
“He is currently remanded in custody until his next appearance on June 13, 2025,” police said.
The SPS is now urging anyone with information to come forward, as they believe there are likely “several witnesses” to the incidents. Investigators can be reached through the non-emergency line at 604-599-0507.
