The Richmond RCMP is investigating an alleged theft at a toy store in Richmond Centre Mall last week.

On Tuesday, May 27, police responded to a call about eight suspects entering a store and allegedly stealing multiple items.

The 911 caller followed the suspects from a safe distance, providing updates to the police.

Officers quickly located and arrested five people in a nearby parkade.

According to police, four of the five arrested suspects are minors.

Police recovered multiple stolen items.

Three of the suspects have since been released with conditions, and charges are being pursued.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article described the incident as a robbery. In fact, police allege it was a theft and did not imply violence was a factor.
