Vancouver marathon causes widespread road closures Sunday

More than 25,000 runners have taken to the streets of Vancouver for the BMO Marathon Sunday morning, and drivers should be aware of several closures and detours in the area.
In-person runners will start near Queen Elizabeth Park and finish in Stanley Park.
The organizers of the marathon say traffic is being affected Sunday in Riley Park, South Cambie, Oakridge, Fairview, Kerrisdale, Dunbar, UBC, Point Grey, Kitsilano, West End, Coal Harbour, Chinatown, Yaletown, Cambie, False Creek, and downtown neighbourhoods.
Rolling closures will be in effect until 3:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to plan ahead.
The Vancouver Police Department says it is ramping up security during the event.
TransLink has added bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus service throughout the marathon.
