Waterfront Station reopens Sunday after bomb threat; Vancouver Fire calls it ‘false alarm’

Waterfront Station has reopened after it was closed briefly Sunday morning due to a police incident.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police say the closure, which affected SkyTrain and SeaBus service, involved “threats of an explosive device.”
Const. Amanda Steed tells 1130 News Radio they received a 911 call from an unknown person just after 10:30 a.m.
“Officers from Metro Vancouver Transit Police and the Vancouver Police Department arrived on scene and, out of an abundance of caution, immediately evacuated the station,” Const. Amanda Steed said.
“Transit Police Explosives Detection Dog Teams are on scene, methodically searching the area.”
Steed says the VPD deployed a drone to assist in clearing the area.
Vancouver Fire Assistant Chief Jarret Gray calls the incident a “false alarm” involving a bomb threat.
“Fire crews have been cancelled already and leaving the scene,” he said.
“We were notified by the VPD that it’s in their hands, and it’s now been cancelled. We’ve been cleared from the scene.”
