The 2024 U.S. presidential election was nothing short of memorable — marked by dramatic, controversial, and sometimes jaw-dropping moments

Heading into November, the race for president was anyone’s game as Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris offered two very different paths forward for America.

Trump, a convicted felon and former president, sought to return to the White House, while Harris, the sitting Vice President, sought a second straight term for the political centre-left party after receiving an endorsement from President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race following a widely criticized debate against Trump in July.

Trump’s campaign heavily focused on issues like the economy, immigration, and international conflicts, promising to strengthen the country’s position both at home and abroad.

Harris centred her platform around critical domestic issues like affordable housing, tax reforms, and abortion rights.

Voter turnout hit record levels on Nov. 5, as millions of Americans cast their ballots.

In the end, Donald Trump emerged victorious, securing his second term in office and becoming the oldest person ever to win the U.S. presidency at 78 years old.

His inauguration is set for Jan. 20.
